Urban Eyes Project in Jacmel, Haiti

Fanm Se Poto Mitan/ Women Hold Up Life

Just finished a beautiful peacock mural created with a group of girls and young women from Art Creation Foundation For Children in Jacmel, Haiti.  This gorgeous mural celebrates women and girls and is located in Jacmel's historic distruct on Rue St. Ann. It includes over 60 mosaic eyes made and contributed by artists from all over the world.

Thanks to all the amazing and talented young women who participated in this project, and thanks to my student Amy McClure for assisting.

We are now raising funds through The Global Mosaic Project to create a second Urban Eyes Peacock mural in Jacmel in later May, 2017.

I launched the Urban Eyes Project three years ago as an an exploration of personal and global awareness, vision, empowerment and community pride. To date, almost 600 mosaic eyes have been contributed by hundreds of artists from over 30 countries. Urban Eyes Project murals have been created in New Orleans, Haiti, included in projects in London and are planned for Los Angeles and Paris this summer.
